How long have you been at PCMH?
“14 years as of August 2007. I’m a charge nurse in MICU, CRRT program instructor and a Nurse Recruiter. So we may be talking soon.”
Why nursing?
“Nursing was a calling. During catechism, the priest asked me to really think about what I wanted to do with my life. Nursing was it.”
Why nursing here?
“At PCMH, we’re always encouraged to take risks and change is welcomed. On our ‘Journey to Excellence’ we are embracing our care delivery with a patient/family-centered focus. I also love that diversity is welcomed. You see, I came from a small community hospital in Canada. Here at PCMH, the opportunities to learn, teach, and expand my skills have been enormous. Also everybody is very young. The population is university-oriented and the proximity to the beach is wonderful.”
What’s the best part of your day?
“Seeing nursing students and residents progress as they care for critically ill patients. I’m also training for HealthSpan. As a computer novice, this has been challenging. However, every day I am learning and enjoying what I am doing.”

Any parting thoughts?
“PCMH allows me to do exactly what I want to do – take care of my patients at the bedside and I’m not pressured to do things that I am not interested in.”
